Swox Surf Protection: A Sunscreen Review

bede-durbidge-sunr_1443187cYou scream. I scream. We all scream for sunscreen.

Literally. Knowing that 2 in 3 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer by the age of 70 and that surfers are who are widely exposed to it, as UV rays, sand and water reflection are responsible for severe skin damages. We were pleased when SWOX – Surf Protection asked us to test their products.

Paul and I love being in the sun and surf and we do make sure to have sunscreen on to protect us. We go roughly through 2.5 litres of sunscreen a year, and we realised that not all sunscreen is created equal, especially for surfers. Sweat proof, waterproof, SPF level, and hours of protection are all key factors that effect your likelihood of getting burt.

IMGP0370

Founded by a group of board riders who, having grown up surfing in Australia and snowboarding in Switzerland, were unhappy with mainstream sun protection products that washed and rubbed off too easily. These guys know how to do surf protection!

When tested SWOX Protection Zinc we found that it a high protection sunscreen, SPF 30, that is extra water and sweat resistant, protecting us against intense solar radiation even during long surf sessions. It protects your skin from the damaging UVA & UVB rays through a combination of zinc and titan protection.

In the water it didn’t smudge, run into our eyes or felt greasy (Paul’s main concern with sunscreen).

We also tested SWOX Sunscreen Face during long trekking and kayak paddles and it proof to defy the toughest outdoor conditions.

Both SWOX sunscreens revealed to be absorbed into our skin quite easily without looking like a white face.

Stay Gold. Stay Salty.
